Study on the Status of Helminthic Infections in Chun-nam Province


Abstract
The auther obtained the results as follows, by employing the formalin-ether sedimentation with stool obtained from 1500 people in Chosun University Hospital and this study was undertaken to evalute the present status of the intestinal helminthic infection in the people of Chun nam province for one year and 3 months from January 1973 through April 1974.
1) The positive rates of the helminthes among 1500 people revealed 72. 6%, 44. 6 % in ascaris lumbricoides, 49. 3% in trichocephalus trichurus, 4. 5% in hook worm, 0.7% in trichostrongyrus orientalis, 6. 5% in clonorchis sinensis, 0.8% in metagonimus Yokogawa, 2.0% in taenia Sp, and 0.9% in hyinenolepsis nana.
2) The infection rate of the helminthes by sex (variation) was higher in female 74.8%, than in male 70.80. the infection rates by age were as follows; 60. 9% in 0?4 year-old group, 72. 1% in 5?9 year-old group, 71. 8% in 10?19 year-old group, 76.1% in 20?29 year-old group, 74.6% in 30?39 year-old group, 78.9% in 40?59 year-old group, and 74.0% in the above 60 year-old group, so that the infection rate of the intestinal helminthes were higher in the middle aged group than any other group.
3) Among the various helminthes, the positive rate which one man was infected to 2 or more kinds of intestinal helninthes, was 28.1% among total patients, 28. 2% in male and 27. 9% in female respectively.
Therefore no remarkable difference was observed by sex (various).
